Position Summary: AmeriCorps Member will be assisting in the development 
and delivery of a regional environmental education programs (Water on 
Wheels and Salmon in the Classroom) to area schools and school groups. 
This program is ongoing through the school year 2010-2011. Program 
delivery will occur in area schools, at specified field locations and in 
community group forums throughout the eastern Washington, but primarily in 
Benton, Franklin, and Walla Walla Counties.  Member will be spending 
approximately 60% of their time teaching Water on Wheels lessons, and 
approximately 40% of their time working on Salmon in the Classroom 
activities.

Essential Functions:
•       Provide high quality and energetic Water on Wheels lessons to area 
schools and school groups
•       Set-up, maintain, and trouble-shoot problems with Salmon in the 
Classroom tanks
•       Conduct outreach activities to engage more individuals and 
organizations in resource conservation. 
•       Solicit donations of project materials and recruit volunteers as 
necessary.
•       Assist with general office duties related to position (mailings, 
filing, e-mail, phone call reminders).
•       Assist in the further development of the FCD’s Education and 
Outreach Programs

Position Requirements:

•       Desire to work with children Pre-K through 12, as well as home 
school and school groups
•       Ability to work with FCD team to develop, implement and refine 
programs
•       Education, Natural Resource or Science Background 
•       18 years of age or older, by completion of the program.
•       U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident.
•       Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent, or commit to 
earning one 
•       Ability to commit to the full term of service for which they are 
applying.
•       Submit to a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

•       Degree in Education or Natural Resource Science or related field 
preferred  
•       Demonstrate abilities in written and oral communication
•       Experience developing and delivering Environmental Education 
activities
•       Training in Projects WET, WILD and Learning Tree Curriculum
•       Knowledge of wildlife, water, or natural resource issues
•       Possess a high degree of energy

Full-time Member (1700/hr) Benefits Include: 

•       A taxable, monthly living allowance of approximately $900 a month 
before taxes. 
•       Upon successful completion of a full term of service, eligible 
members receive an education award of $5,350. 
•       Loan forbearance (after successful completion of a term of 
service, AmeriCorps will pay the accrued interest on qualified loans, 
which is taxable).
•       Basic medical insurance (covers members only, not dependents; 
vision and dental not included).
•       Childcare allowance for those who qualify.
