2010 ORGANIZATION FOR TROPICAL STUDIES (OTS) OUTSTANDING STUDENT PAPER AWARD
The OTS Membership Committee is pleased to
announce the second annual OTS Outstanding
Student Paper Award. We are inviting nominations
for a $500 cash prize for excellence in research
via an outstanding publication in tropical biology by a student.
***THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS THURSDAY OCTOBER 15th, 2009. ***
ELIGIBILITY AND NOMINATION: Paper must be
published in a peer-reviewed journal within the
18 months before the award deadline (since April,
15 2009). Must be on a topic directly related to
their research in tropical biology and work on
the paper completed within the tropics. The
nominee must be first author on the paper and
must have been an undergraduate or graduate
student when the research was completed.
Must meet one of the following criteria:
OTS course alum
Completed the work at an OTS research station (La Selva,
Las Cruces, Palo Verde)
Student at an OTS member institution (find your
institutions at: <http://www.ots.ac.cr/>http://www.ots.ac.cr/
Nominations by research advisors or colleagues are welcomed.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Applications will be reviewed
by an Awards Committee formed by a subcommittee
of the Assembly of Delegates. Papers will be
judged based upon the papers contribution to the
field including originality, study design and impact.
The nomination packets should include:
1. A copy of the paper
2. A brief letter describing the impact of the paper on the field.
3. A CV from the nominee
