Hello list members, We would like to call your attention to the session we are organizing for the 2010 Fall AGU meeting: Session B14. Phosphorus: from Geochemistry to Genomes to Global Sustainability. Abstracts are due Sept. 2nd ( http://www.agu.org/meetings/fm10/).
Session Abstract: Phosphorus often limits ecosystem productivity; emerging studies indicate that the human population may become P-limited in the future due to unsustainable agricultural practices. This multidisciplinary session aims to explore P as a link between biology, geochemistry and society. We welcome abstracts on the role of P in prebiotic processes and the origin of life, P cycling in ancient to modern environments, the impact of changes in P cycling on biological evolution, the genetic, physiological, and ecological responses to P, and the impact of human activity on global P cycling. Our goal is to obtain an integrative picture of P dynamics across temporal and spatial scales from cellular processes to global biogeochemical fluxes. Please send us an email if you have any questions! Regards, James Elser ([email protected]) Amisha Poret-Peterson ([email protected]) Jessica Corman ([email protected])
