The Nevada Conservation Corps AmeriCorps Program is recruiting for an 
Intern to serve with Nevada Econet, a non-profit organization in the Reno 
area.  The position is a great opportunity for a person who would like to 
develop skills focusing on environmental and community strengthening 
activities.  Nevada EcoNet was organized in 1990 by a group of local 
citizens to organize the first Reno Earth Day Celebration.  The Annual 
Earth Day Celebration brings the regional community together in one place 
to showcase the organizations, non-profits and government agencies working 
towards the goal of sustainable communities for the public. Additionally 
Nevada EcoNet brings sustainability information to the community through a 
variety of other events, publications, and partnerships. This is a great 
opportunity for anyone interested in non-profit management and community 
outreach. 
 
Compensation:
This is an AmeriCorps position, and candidates will receive a living 
stipend of $9,230 for the 12-month period. This is not an hourly wage or a 
salary and is paid to members bi-weekly throughout the 12-month period. 
Upon completion of AmeriCorps service, members shall receive an additional 
education award in the amount of $2,675 that can be used for paying off 
student loans, or paying tuition for a Title IV accredited college. Loan 
forbearance and accrued interest payment on qualifying student loans is 
also available. 
 
Timeline: October 25, 2010 – October 28, 2011, part-time, 20 hours per 
week. The start date and timeline are negotiable.  
 
Location: Reno, NV
 
Duties: 
• Position will serve as both community outreach and volunteer coordinator.
• Hands on outreach in the community, including meeting with other 
volunteer coordinators in the community (Washoe County School Districts 
schools, University of Nevada, Reno, Truckee Meadows Community College, 
etc), environmental workshops and environmental education.
• Serving as the volunteer coordinator for any Nevada EcoNet events, 
including the three major events: Organic Uncorked/Golden Pinecone Awards 
for the environmental leadership, annual Earth Day Celebration, and the 
Truckee River Clean-up day. 
• Recruiting and managing volunteers for all Erase Your Trace events and 
working with special event coordinators in reducing their waste at events.
• Update the website as needed.
• Update and maintain the volunteer database.
• Participating in environmental education workshops and complete all 
necessary documentation for Education Award grant, including reflections, 
surveys, evaluations, time sheets, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong communication skills;
• Demonstrated commitment to the conservation and local communities;
• Demonstrated interest/experience in environmental issues; and
• Energetic and eager to learn 
 
AmeriCorps Qualifications:
To qualify, you must be at least 17 years of age, have U.S. citizenship or 
legal resident alien status, eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education 
Award, have received a high school diploma or GED and pass a National Sex 
Offender Public Registry (NSOPR) and federal criminal background check.
