Whittier College invites applications for a tenure track position at the
rank of Assistant Professor with an appointment in Environmental
Science/Studies, an interdisciplinary major. Applicants need a PhD,
specializing in soil ecology and global change. The ideal candidate
will be comfortable teaching introductory environmental science courses
as well as upper-division courses in their field of expertise. He/she is
also expected to participate in our Liberal Education Program. Whittier
College is a small private liberal arts college located 18 miles
southeast of Los Angeles, with a highly diverse student population. In
addition to the wildlife preserve adjacent to the college there are a
diverse array of habitats within easy driving distance of Whittier;

increasing opportunities for collaborative student research and
