The effects of disturbance and competition on plant communities.
A Phd position is available at the University of Zurich from October 1st 2010 to investigate the roles of disturbance and competition in experimental communities of annual plants supervised by Dr. Lindsay Turnbull (http://www.ieu.uzh.ch/staff/leaders/lturnbull.html). The work will involve experiments, analysis and modeling and would suit someone who enjoys applying and testing ecological theory. The position includes full funding for a minimum of three years. A Master’s degree is required in some related ecological subject. The University of Zurich is an excellent University set close to the center of the city of Zurich, Switzerland. The working language of the Science Faculty is English. You will join a department which includes people working on a whole variety of ecological and evolutionary problems (http://www.ieu.uzh.ch), with whom you will be encouraged to interact.
