The University of Hawaii at Hilo's Tropical Conservation Biology and
Environmental Science
Graduate Program invites oral and poster presentations at its annual research
symposium 17-18
February, 2011

This collaborative event is an excellent opportunity to share your latest
research before a body of
like-minded students, researchers and professionals. The TCBES Symposium is an
engaging,
informal venue for presentations of works-in-progress as well as polished
research. Research
presentations concerning ecology, evolution, environmental science and
conservation biology
related to Hawai`i and the Pacific region are welcome. Studies examining the
relationship between
human communities and cultures, and environmental issues are also encouraged.
Presenters may
choose a 5, 10 or 15-minute time slot for an oral presentation or may opt to
give a poster
presentation. We invite graduate and undergraduate students, resident and
visiting faculty, and
agency personnel to come and share their latest research. Cash prizes will be
awarded for best
graduate and undergraduate student oral and poster presentations.

An online registration form will be available starting in mid-November on the
TCBES website
(http://tcbes.uhh.hawaii.edu/). This event is free of charge to encourage broad
participation from
the scientific community. A keynote speaker chosen by UH Hilo students will
headline this event.

Please contact Colin Phifer, event co-organizer, at [email protected] for
questions about this
symposium.
