Those of you working on proposals for the Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant program at NSF, with a deadline later this month, should keep in mind that NSF now has deadlines, not target dates, for proposals. If you don't make the deadline, you'll have to wait a year before you'll have another chance to submit the proposal. To avoid problems with online submission that's required via Fastlane, you might even want to submit it before the deadline. Keep in mind too that if any required component of your proposal is found to be missing, you won't have an opportunity to resubmit it for another year. So be sure you (and your advisor, who will be the Principal Investigator) read the program guidelines carefully.
