Hello, Can someone recommend a method and/or refer me to a basic book on estimating insect abundance using line transects? A set of transects of known length were set across an area throughout a study area in the forest, each transect consisted of small oatmeal piles laid approx. 1 meter apart. Insects, specifically crickets were later collected and counted from each oatmeal pile. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
