Faculty Position in Aquatic Science

The Center for Environmental Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University
(www.vcu.edu/cesweb) invites applications for an aquatic scientist whose
research integrates fieldwork, modeling, and/or geospatial analysis (e.g.
GIS, remote sensing) to understand ecological and environmental processes of
large river systems across broad spatial scales. The successful candidate
will be expected to develop an active, externally funded research program
focused on rivers, direct graduate students through the doctoral level,
complement our existing strengths in areas such as restoration ecology,
biogeochemistry, and river food web analysis, and contribute to the mission
of VCU’s Rice Center (www.vcu.edu/rice). Teaching responsibilities will
include undergraduate and graduate courses in the Environmental Studies
curriculum. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position at the rank of
Assistant Professor; exceptional candidates at senior levels are also
encouraged to apply. Postdoctoral experience is expected and demonstrated
excellence in scholarship is required. Candidates must have demonstrated
experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student
environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.  Competitive
start-up funds are available.
