Major/Essential Duties of the Job:
Responsible for providing leadership for the Texas Well Owner Network
Program.  Develop curriculum and deliver training for a ground water
education program providing water well screenings and information on
best management practices for private well management.  Responsible for
selecting, revising and developing new training materials and resources
including a handbook, factsheets, PowerPoint slide sets, web pages,
newsletters and news releases, and related materials to support project
efforts.  Work closely with Extension specialists and agents,
groundwater conservation districts, watershed protection plan work
groups, and programs administered through other agencies to tailor
curriculum materials to local hydrogeologic conditions.  The individual
will assume primary responsibilities for facilitating, coordinating and
collaborating with program partners to deliver outreach education events
in targeted areas across the state, including marketing, publicity,
logistics, program delivery, and survey evaluations aimed at improving
private water well management. Work with the Project Director, Texas
Extension Water Quality Coordinator, Project Manager for the NIFA
Southern Region Water Resource Project and Water Quality Coordinators
from states in the southern region to develop a private well owner
curriculum template that can be adapted to needs in other southern
region states.  Coordinate and lead project reporting and evaluation.

Occasional Duties:
Support other related water resource management programs underway in
the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences.

Required Education:
M.S. degree in the natural sciences, geosciences, engineering or
closely related field.

Preferred Education:
Ph.D. degree in the natural sciences, geosciences, engineering or
closely related field.

Required Experience:
Training and/or experience in water resource issues.  Experience in
outreach education including development and delivery of educational
programs on environmental issues related to water resource issues highly
desired.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in Extension outreach education program development and
delivery addressing environmental issues related to water. Experience in
curriculum development, groundwater resource planning and management,
water resource issues (quality/quantity), and website content
development and coordination highly desired.  Knowledge of groundwater
hydrogeology, remediation techniques and methods for well water
contaminants, and well drilling and maintenance highly desired.

Required Licenses:  Driver's License

Required special knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Ability to travel state-wide as necessary to coordinate program
efforts. Educational resource development

Preferred special knowledge, abilities and skills:
Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups including the
general public, agricultural interests, city and county officials,
groundwater conservation districts, watershed protection work groups,
non-profit and environmental advocacy organizations, river authorities
and water resource personnel from Land Grant Universities and state and
federal agencies.  Knowledge of groundwater hydrogeology, potential well
water contaminants, and well drilling and maintenance highly desired.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative programs, partnerships and
networks desired. Knowledge and/or training in geographic information
systems and web site coordination beneficial.  Demonstrated ability to
work cooperatively with others and communicate effectively both orally
and in writing.  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
desired.
