The USGS Western Ecological Research Center, Dixon Field Station, is seeking to 
fill multiple positions for Biological Science Technicians to conduct wildlife 
field studies at several sites in the Sacramento Valley of California. Primary 
duties include trap surveys for snakes and habitat/vegetation sampling. 
Additional duties might include radio telemetry of snakes and artificial cover 
or visual surveys for snakes. Positions are scheduled for 3 - 5 months. The 
expected start date is 28 March 2011. Salary is commensurate with experience, 
up to $2,460/month.
 
Qualifications:  B.S. Degree in biology, wildlife management, or related field 
is preferred although experienced undergraduates are encouraged to apply. Prior 
field research experience preferred. Valid driver's license required. 
Successful applicants must possess the ability to hike moderate distances in 
waders while carrying equipment, often in hot or otherwise inclement weather. 
Hours can be irregular and long. These positions are physically demanding. 
Ability to work independently and as a team while maintaining good 
communication with field supervisor is essential.
