Education Coordinator (aka Program Coordinator, Senior, at University of 
Arizona)

The USA National Phenology Network National Coordinating Office (USA-NPN 
NCO) is currently seeking a part-time Education Coordinator (aka Program 
Coordinator, Senior) to plan, develop and implement both formal and 
informal educational programming. The focus of the program will be 
phenology and the USA-NPN?s plant and animal phenology observation program 
Nature?s Notebook. The coordinator will build on existing partnerships and 
resources to create an education plan for the network, as well as organize 
and develop educational materials. The successful candidate will seek 
additional external support for related projects or activities of benefit 
the USA-NPN NCO, potentially extending the scope of the position.
 
Based at the University of Arizona, the USA-NPN (www.usanpn.org) brings 
together citizen scientists, government agencies, non-profit groups, 
educators and students of all ages to monitor the impacts of climate 
change on plants and animals in the United States.
 
Duties & Responsibilities

?Lead the development of a plan for formal and informal educational 
programming, considering current strengths and weaknesses, with particular 
attention to the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS);
?Evaluate existing USA-NPN and partner organization educational materials 
and pilot programs related to phenology and climate change;
?Develop or contribute to collaborative grant proposals for program 
development;
?Prepare internal and external reports on the program?s objectives, 
progress and budget;
?Conduct formative and summative evaluation of the program;
?Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings or conferences to meet goals 
of the education program; coordinate logistics, scheduling and participant 
communications;
?Work strategically with partners (e.g., National Park Service, Fish and 
Wildlife Service, botanical gardens) at the national level to develop new 
materials and pilot programs as outlined in the plan, to include materials 
specific to citizen science on the NWRS;
?Engage with education audiences (teachers, nature center educators, park 
interpretative staff), to promote the incorporation of phenology 
monitoring into existing formal and informal educational settings, 
targeting middle school through adult audiences;
?Coordinate the development of programs and activities to engage people or 
groups of people under-represented in science to increase workforce 
capacity and diversity;
?Take responsibility for the integrity of the USA-NPN?s education program 
as a whole, including overseeing revisions to the Education section of the 
USA-NPN website, the development and distribution of communication 
materials including reports, brochures, outreach presentations, training 
materials and web content;
? Contribute to other projects depending on programmatic needs and the 
coordinator?s interests.
 
Minimum Qualifications

?Bachelor?s degree in education, ecology or a related field
?Experience developing and managing programs
? Three years of experience in formal and informal science or 
environmental education
?Excellent verbal and written communication skills
?Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
?Self-directed with the ability to initiate, implement, and manage 
projects
 
Preferred Qualifications

?Master?s degree in education, ecology or a related field
? Science and environment curricula development experience
?Experience with science translation and communications
?Proficiency with MS applications, graphic design and web content 
management software

This is a benefits eligible half-time classified position with annualized 
salary of $42,000-$48,000 depending on experience. This is a temporary,
