Job Description: Two field technicians are needed to assist in a number of ongoing research projects investigating the ecology of mesopredator populations in northcentral Indiana. Duties will include, but are not limited to, establishing and maintaining trapping grids, live trapping and handling raccoons and Virginia opossums (e.g., immobilization, blood collection), processing blood and tissue samples, and establishing landowner contacts. These positions will start in late March and end in mid-June.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a natural resources or related field or equivalent experience is required. In addition, prior experience trapping and anaesthetizing mammals, collecting blood samples, and operating ATV's and 4X4 trucks is preferred but not required. Applicants must be willing and capable of working outdoors in variable weather conditions, possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team, and live in close quarters. Applicants also must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
