Hi Ecolog-

I am seeking advice on methods for my undergraduate thesis.

I have aspirations to to measure benthic micro-algae production in salt marsh
sediment using a
DO micro-electrode. From the literature searching I've done it seems that, in
addition to buying a
micro-electrode, using this method would require me to obtain a
micro-manipulator (a machine
that lets you move things in uM increments). But I'm having trouble figuring
out more precisely
the equipment I'll need and, hence, am also struggling to determine the price
and general
feasibility of using the method.

Is anyone familiar enough with these methods to lend me advice?--Is it a
feasible method to use given a semesters worth of prep time and a somewhat
limited budget
(~1,500$)?

Any advice, no matter how short of vague, would be greatly appreciated. And
feel free to email me
directly: [email protected].

Thanks!
