ECOLOG,

I am a want-to-be restoration ecologist (fresh out of undgrad with a degree
in general biology). While I have done a considerable amount of reading on
the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem function, services,
resilience, stability, etc., this has all been very theorhetical in nature.
I am seeking readings on applied, (whether it be restoration, community, or
otherwise) ecology. Do you have any papers/books you recommend I become
familiar with? Additionally, are there any groups which discuss ecological
papers over the internet?

In case you want a little more background, I live and work in the
(sub)urbanized midwest and am most excited about river/stream and floodplain
woodland systems. I'm familiar with the local flora, and interested in
learning more about macroinvertebrates or birds.

I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy professional life to guide
a youngster.

regards,

Robert of Illinois
