I will be collecting subtidally various species of red algae and their epifauna (gastropods, crustaceans etc) and am wondering what the best method to do so is. So far my collections have been small in size and number so plastic bags have worked great but when I increase the number of collections per dive the number of water-filled baggies will present a logistical problem. I have only experimented a little with mesh bags but have found that many of the little custaceans like amphipods escape. i would appreciate any advice on technique.
