Hi everyone,
This might be a better question for the mammal list, but I wanted to ask a
broad audience first, including ornithologists.
I'm starting a project with squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus), which are
small neotropical primates (700-1000g). I'm planning on collaring the adult
females for identification, but the adult males cannot be collared due to
seasonal weight gain in their neck/torso area, associated with the breeding
season.  Therefore, I am thinking of alternatives for marking the males.
Perhaps some sort of
anklet or "earring". Whatever it is, it has to be small because of their size,
and brightly colored so I can see it from a distance. I'm having difficulty
finding ideas in the primate literature, because everyone uses collars.
So, I'm hoping that people who study other taxa may have some ideas.
Thanks in advance,Anita
