A full-time technician position is available immediately in the Department of Plant Biology at North Carolina State University to participate in a study of fire impacts in longleaf pine savannas and adjacent wetlands. Duties will be varied and will include monitoring of plant population dynamics, measurement of environmental variables, vegetation mapping, setup and maintenance of data loggers, assisting with field ecophysiological measurements, analyses of carbohydrate content of plant tissues, and database maintenance. A bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science or related field is required, but a master's degree is preferred. Experience with GIS or plant ecophysiology is beneficial. The position is funded for 3.5 years, with possibility of extension, contingent on funding. Annual salary is $33,000 plus health and retirement benefits.
