We are looking for a student interested in an MS or PhD program in forest
ecology and carbon cycling. The student would be responsible for measuring
forest carbon pools and fluxes within the Susquehanna Shale Hills Critical
Zone Observatory watershed (http://www.czo.psu.edu/). Their research
would focus on the influence of species, climate, and topographic position
on tree litter fall production and radial growth, with the opportunity to
relate aboveground carbon dynamics to soil processes. The student would
interact with an interdisciplinary team of researchers working in fields
such as geomorphology, hydrology, biogeochemistry, and ecophysiology.
Their degree would be within the Intercollege Graduate Degree Program in
Ecology (http://www.huck.psu.edu/education/ecology/) starting in Fall
2011, with the possibility of beginning field work this summer (2011). If
interested, please send an email with a brief description of your interest
in this graduate program as well as your CV and GRE scores to Margot Kaye
([email protected]) by Monday April 25th.
