GS-408-09 Quantitative Plant Ecologist

The Pacific Northwest Research Station of the U.S. Forest Service
is looking for a full-time, temporary, Quantitative Plant Ecologist
at the GS-9 level.  The position is located at the Wenatchee Forestry 
Sciences Lab in Wenatchee, Washington, and is funded for about 
six months. 

The successful candidate will work with Dr. David W. Peterson and 
other research scientists to analyze vegetation structure and 
composition data from a long-term prescribed fire study in oak 
savannas and woodlands in Minnesota and assist with fire and forest 
ecology studies in Pacific Northwest forests. The preferred 
starting date is June 27, 2011, but can be negotiated. The 
pay rate is $22.74 per hour.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in plant ecology, 
forestry, and/or fire ecology; is proficient in advanced statistical 
analysis and multivariate plant community analysis; and is experienced
at working with large datasets.  Good botanical skills, including field 
identification of Pacific Northwest plant species, and strong oral 
and written communication skills are also desired.
