Dear Colleague,

As part of an NSF-funded study on science curriculum developed for an
undergraduate general education Biology course (IRB project #2011-10034-0),
I am conducting a survey of faculty beliefs about the critical science
literacy skills that students should master by taking an undergraduate
general education biology course for non-science majors. The purpose of this
study is to advance the functional science literacy of undergraduates in
these courses.

As an instructor of these general education biology courses, you are invited
to participate in this study – a web-based survey that should take
approximately 10 minutes to complete. Feel free to forward this message to
others in your department if you are not currently teaching this type of
course, but you are invited to participate even if your general education
course is taken by biology majors (mixed majors and non-majors).

Individually-identifiable answers are strictly confidential. No report will
identify any individual person, research unit, or academic institution.
Please read the informed consent form at the survey site before
participating in the survey. If you have any questions please feel free to
contact me either through email ([email protected]) or phone (706)
542-1690.

The online survey is available at http://bit.ly/lpXYvS

Thank you for your time,

Peggy Brickman
