Anyone out there have experience with tree counts using video cameras from
planes or helicopters?

The tree in question is a conifer and easily distinguishable from the air
(unfortunately not visible enough for satellite imagery) and the system is
Australian tropical savanna with fairly open but even cover of eucalypts.

Wondering more about the equipment folks have tried using. There are some
relatively inexpensive and nearly indestructible HD video cameras on the
market right now (e.g., GoPro and Contour), one model even has GPS built
into it. Anyone given these a go? Any recommendations would be greatly
appreciated.

You can just email me directly - i can compile responses if anyone else is
interested.

thanks,
