Virginia Tech's Executive Masters of Natural Resources (XMNR) program in Leadership for Sustainability is currently accepting applications for the next cohort to begin in January 2012. The XMNR program is offered through the College of Natural Resources and Environment in the National Capital Region, located at the Northern Virginia Center in Falls Church. Designed to accommodate the needs and constraints of the working professional, the XMNR is an accelerated, non-residential degree program which emphasizes peer-to-peer experiential learning and collaborative problem-solving through teamwork. The curriculum was developed to equip students with critical thinking and creative problem solving skills for working across sectors, disciplines, and cultures to address the complex issues involved in building a more sustainable society and future. All aspects of the program—including coursework, guest lecturers, group projects, the international residency, and capstone projects—are designed to bring about institutional and policy change as well as personal and cultural transformation.
Please pass along this message to any students or colleagues who you think may be interested in such a program, as the program could certainly benefit from more ecologists.
