Title:  Volunteer California Condor Monitor

Job Description:        
We are seeking individuals to assist with field studies on California
condors in Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.  Regular duties include
condor nest monitoring via radio telemetry, binoculars and spotting scope. 
The study area is the South Rim and nesting areas below the rim.  The duties
will include extensive field work which will involve long periods outdoors
of standing/sitting and will be carried out alone. It will involve terrain
which is often steep, and weather conditions that will be hot (up to 115 F)
and dry, or cold (below freezing) and wet. There will be a need to carry
moderately heavy equipment to study sites. Incumbent must consistently
follow safe work practices. 

The ideal candidate is a recent graduate with a BS in a biology-related
field, a research focus, and a desire to gain field experience and develop
positive working relationships to get a good start in their career.  Must
have good interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with the public.
Candidates with birding skills and backcountry hiking experience preferred.
 Valid driver’s license required.

This is a full-time volunteer position (40+ hrs/week) with a minimum 2 week
commitment. Campground site and volunteer stipend of $15/day worked are
provided. Positions will be available from June – November.  If interested
