Dear Colleagues,

We are announcing a session on coupled biogeochemical cycles in terrestrial
and aquatic ecosystems for the Fall American Geophysical Union Meeting
(December 5-9, 2011, San Francisco, CA). We encourage you to attend the
meeting and submit an abstract to the following session:

Biogeosciences B - Session B26: Coupled Biogeochemical Cycles in Terrestrial
and Aquatic Ecosystems

The dynamics of major elements (N, P, S, Fe, C), trace elements (Hg, Pb),
and greenhouse gases (GHG) (N2O, CO2, CH4) are coupled across scales through
complex redox dependant processes. Understanding the interactions that occur
on multiple spatial and temporal scales between these elements/compounds is
paramount to the challenge of sustaining human and environmental health. We
encourage contributions investigating the fate, transport and interactions
of two or more major elements, trace elements or GHG across a range of
spatial and temporal scales. The goal of this session is to broaden our view
of processes influencing elemental cycling across ecosystems to seek out
commonalities that might inform management strategies for anthropogenic
environmental problems.
