Dear Colleague,

Please consider submitting an abstract to the special session B28
"Ecological, Hydrological, and Biogeochemical Applications of Remotely
Sensed Land Surface Temperature” at the Fall AGU meeting (December 5-9,
2011) in San Francisco. For abstract submissions (deadline: 4th August
2011), please visit: http://sites.agu.org/fallmeeting/.

We have confirmed invited presentations by Dr. Dar Roberts (UCSB), Dr. Thijs
van Leeuwen (University of California, Irvine and VU University Amsterdam),
Dr. Menglin Jin (San Jose State University), and Mr. David Mildrexler
(University of Montana).

A brief description of the session follows:

Temperature is a primary control on ecological, hydrological, and
biogeochemical processes. However, air temperature datasets can be
inaccurate in regions with sparse measurements, such as tropical and
mountainous areas. Also, air temperature is often not in equilibrium with
the temperature of the object of interest. The objective of this session is
to highlight recent research using remotely sensed skin temperature (or land
surface temperature) as a metric linking organismal processes, ecosystem
structure/function, and water and energy fluxes. We invite contributions
from researchers working with a variety of data, including thermal infrared
and other remote sensing products.

Conveners: Christopher J. Still*, Michael P. Toomey (University of
California, Santa Barbara); Rebecca L. Powell (University of Denver)
