Our lab group is interested in using motion-activated, remote cameras to quantify mouse, squirrel, and chipmunk behavior at feeding stations such as GUD seed trays. We have been discussing the purchase of 1 of 2 Reconyx models to conduct this research. The first is the Reconyx PC800 which Reconyx advertizes as a low-glow flash with peak illumination at 890 nm with some bleed-over into the visible spectrum. The alternative option is the PC900, a no-glow flash with peak illumination at 940 nm which is fully invisible to the human eye. Has anyone encountered differences in response to cameras, seed tray visitation rates, or the duration of those visitations with these two cameras or cameras with similar flash wavelengths?
