The Department of Biology at Loyola University Chicago (www.luc.edu/biology) invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher who is interested in studying the effects of environmental stressors (including climate change, invasive species, and habitat alteration) on aquatic communities at varying spatial and temporal scales. The post-doctoral researcher will work in the laboratory of Dr. Sapna Sharma. The research interests of the laboratory are diverse with the overall goal of predicting the effects of environmental stressors on ecosystems and improving the use of quantitative approach used to generate such predictions. In addition to developing core research questions, the candidate will also have the flexibility to develop his or her own independent research projects and the opportunity to form national and international collaborations. Candidates must have a PhD in ecology, conservation biology, applied statistics, or a related field. Candidates with strong quantitative skills are preferred, although candidates with an interest in developing quantitative skills and ecological models will be considered. A competitive salary and excellent benefits will be offered. The initial appointment is for one year with possibility of extension to two years, contingent upon performance.
