The Department of Biology at East Carolina University [http://www.ecu.edu/biology], the third largest campus in the North Carolina University system, seeks to add to our strength in biodiversity by inviting applications for a tenure-track position in ecology at either the assistant or associate professor level (will consider other titles based on degree and qualifications) beginning August 13, 2012. Honoring the late Raymond O'Connor, we expect to hire an individual with expertise in biodiversity, conservation biology, or macroecology and who employs an integrative approach to understanding biological complexity. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. Applicants with post-doctoral experience and strong quantitative skills are preferred. We expect the successful candidate to establish an externally funded research program; expand our organismal and ecology course offerings; mentor undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral level students; contribute appropriate service to the university, community and profession; and help foster the development of the recently formed North Carolina Center for Biodiversity (NCCB). Collaborative opportunities exist with the University's Institute for Coastal Science and Policy, Center for Sustainable Tourism, and Coastal Science Institute.
