Faculty Position in Integrated Assessment and Modeling of Climate Impacts

The School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE) at the University of
Michigan (UM) seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor position
(tenure-track) in integrated assessment and modeling of climate-change
impacts. SNRE’s mission is to contribute to the protection of the Earth’s
resources and the achievement of a sustainable society.

We seek applicants working in modeling, integration, and assessment of
climate-change impacts to inform decisions on climate responses. Training
may be in any relevant discipline, including economics, modeling methods, or
any major impact domain – e.g., forests, hydrology, agriculture, coastal
zones, built environment, public health, etc. In addition to their
disciplinary perspective, we seek candidates able to integrate knowledge
from multiple domains, through models or other methods.

This position and one in atmospheric sciences comprise a UM faculty cluster
on “Climate Modeling and Integrated Assessment.” These two hires will help
build cohesion among UM faculty interested in climate and integrated
assessment. Candidates should thus have the interests and skills to
interact effectively with researchers across SNRE and elsewhere.

SNRE (www.snre.umich.edu) is an interdisciplinary professional school
pursuing knowledge and strategies to steward the Earth’s resources. The
school has 400 Master’s and 60 doctoral students, and partners in a
cross-campus undergraduate Program in the Environment and five graduate dual
degrees.

The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) Build a respected research
program that attracts external funding; 2) Contribute to graduate and
undergraduate teaching; 3) Mentor graduate students; 4) Contribute to SNRE,
UM, and relevant professions through service and collaboration.

A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required. Applications – including cover
letter, CV, a concise statement of your research and teaching plans, and
copies of three letters of reference – should be sent, as one PDF file, to:
[email protected]. Review of applications will begin
November 1, 2011.

The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity employer, and individuals
from under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.
