I am preparing to start diet choice experiments on free ranging Eastern Gray
Squirrels. The experiments will involve pairwise presentation of seeds to
squirrels on a seed tray. I am collecting data on seed traits to help
determine which seeds should be paired together. I am still missing trait
information for some seeds, as indicated below.

1.Germination schedule (i.e. number of days to germination after the seed
drops from the tree) for seeds of:
American hazelnut, American beech, Pin oak, Blackjack oak, Laurel oak,
Nuttall oak, Overcup oak, Water oak, Willow oak, Red maple, Silver maple,
Pistachio, Almond and Brazil nut.

2.Percentage tannins for seeds of:
Tanoak, Bitternut hickory, American beech, Blackjack oak, Swampchestnut oak,
Schumard oak, Post oak, Cherrybark oak, Laurel oak, Live oak, Nuttall oak,
Overcup oak, Water oak, Willow oak, Shingle oak, Red maple, Silver maple and
Hornbeam.

3.Percentage lipids for seeds of:
Swamp white oak, Shingle oak, Laurel oak, Nuttall oak and Hornbeam.

If you know and are willing to share some seed trait values with me, I can
be contacted at [email protected]. Any help you can provide me with is
greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
