POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Program Technician Arkansas Forest Resources Center School of Forest Resources, University of Arkansas at Monticello, Monticello, AR
POSITION: Program Technician: twelve-month appointment, renewable annually, assuming satisfactory performance and continued funding. APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: Review of applicants will begin 10-31-11 and will remain open until a suitable candidate is hired. RESPONSIBILITIES: The program technician will assist Center scientists in natural resources research projects involving field and laboratory work. The candidate will organize field and laboratory work involved with these projects and may supervise students and other workers performing this work. The candidate will assist with vegetation inventories, destructive sampling of trees and other vegetation, soil and belowground biomass sample collection/processing, management of research data, and providing information for presentations or publications. The individual should have good communication skills, possess good problem solving skills, be able to work in a team-oriented atmosphere as well as independently, and be willing to learn new skills needed to meet changing requirements associated with a diversity of projects administrated by AFRC scientists. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: B.S. in Forest Resources, Natural Resources, Wildlife Management or other biologically-related programs (Preference given to individuals with a M.S. degree). Applicants should possess a valid driver’s license, the ability to work in outdoor field settings, be able to lift 50 lbs., and be available for overnight travel. Must have proof of eligibility to work in the United States. SALARY: Salary is contingent on qualifications and experience.
