The Prairie Enthusiasts invites you to submit an abstract for poster presentation at our Annual Banquet and Conference “TPE at 25: The Journey to Prairie Preservation.” The conference will be held at the University of Wisconsin – Stout in Menomonie, WI on February 25, 2012.
Deadline for abstract submission: Tuesday, Dec 20, 2011 Conference website: http://www.theprairieenthusiasts.org/conference12/conference12.htm <http://www.theprairieenthusiasts.org/conference12/conference12.htm> We seek proposals for posters on prairie and savanna-related research, restoration, and management projects. We welcome presentations on work done in all fire- and grazing-dependent community types from around the Midwest region. Themes for poster presentation submissions include, but are not limited to, the following topics: * Case studies for restoration or rehabilitation of prairie and savanna * Remnant vs. restored prairie and savanna * Landscape and habitat needs for prairie and savanna wildlife * The role of fire in Midwestern natural communities * Assessing and planning for prairie and savanna conservation * Protecting and managing prairie and savanna * Controlling and managing the spread of invasive species * Significance of prairie and savanna systems in the Upper Midwest * The educational, aesthetic, and other values provided by prairie and savanna * Ecosystems services provided by prairie and savanna * Basic research in prairie and savanna ecology or species Guidelines for poster presentations: * Posters are encouraged as they allow extended informal discussions and active participation by authors and coauthors. Posters are displayed for a full day, and interested persons can view the poster even when the author is not in attendance. * Formal Session: Saturday, February 25, 2012 during the social hour in late afternoon * Size: Poster space is at a maximum of 46” x 46” per poster All abstract-related inquiries should be directed to Amanda Little: (715-232-1148) or [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Presenters will be notified of acceptance by January 15, 2011. Note: We ask that presenters register and pay registration fees in order to help cover conference costs. Registration fees for students are $25, members are $60 and non-members are $85.
