Computational Biology Curriculum Development Faculty Workshop, Jan.
12-14, 2012 <http://bioquest.org/scaleit_2012/>
Data literacy and visualization are significant research skills in the
undergraduate curriculum in the biological, physical and mathematical
sciences. This faculty workshop, to be held Jan. 12-14, 2012, at
NIMBioS, will focus on developing cyber-learning strategies and data
intensive activities in the undergraduate classroom. Co-sponsored by
SCALE-IT <http://web.utk.edu/%7Escaleit/> and NIMBioS, the workshop is
intended for faculty facing the challenges of developing
interdisciplinary computational biology courses that engage students and
provided practical, hands-on experiences. The emphasis will be on
applying biological problem solving strategies to contemporary problems
in global health, epidemiology, forensics, agriculture, and ecology in
the undergraduate setting.

*Location: *NIMBioS at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Travel reimbursements and lodging will be provided by the SCALE-IT
Graduate Fellowship Program.

The workshop is limited to 18 participants. Registration is now open
until *December 1, 2011* or until capacity is reached. /**/For more

The National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis
(NIMBioS) (http://www.nimbios.org) brings together researchers from
around the world to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries to
investigate solutions to basic and applied problems in the life
sciences. NIMBioS is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Department of
