Computational Biology Curriculum Development Faculty Workshop, Jan. 12-14, 2012 <http://bioquest.org/scaleit_2012/> Data literacy and visualization are significant research skills in the undergraduate curriculum in the biological, physical and mathematical sciences. This faculty workshop, to be held Jan. 12-14, 2012, at NIMBioS, will focus on developing cyber-learning strategies and data intensive activities in the undergraduate classroom. Co-sponsored by SCALE-IT <http://web.utk.edu/%7Escaleit/> and NIMBioS, the workshop is intended for faculty facing the challenges of developing interdisciplinary computational biology courses that engage students and provided practical, hands-on experiences. The emphasis will be on applying biological problem solving strategies to contemporary problems in global health, epidemiology, forensics, agriculture, and ecology in the undergraduate setting.
*Location: *NIMBioS at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Travel reimbursements and lodging will be provided by the SCALE-IT Graduate Fellowship Program. The workshop is limited to 18 participants. Registration is now open until *December 1, 2011* or until capacity is reached. /**/For more information about the workshop and how to apply, go to: http://bioquest.org/scaleit_2012/ The National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) (http://www.nimbios.org) brings together researchers from around the world to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries to investigate solutions to basic and applied problems in the life sciences.
