CO Responsible Trails America Position Description:

Position to be Filled: BHA Contractor, Colorado

BHA has received a grant to:

1) Develop and conduct an intense ORV enforcement information and awareness campaign in Colorado, using :

A) Powerpoint presentation (Template Available from BHA)

B) Brochure (Template available from BHA)

Directed communication would be initiated with policy makers, local and state governments, public land users, adjacent landowners ,livestock permit holders, sportsmen, anglers and conservation organizations, Secretary of the Interior, Secretary of Agriculture, Chief of the Forest Service and the Director of the Bureau of Land Management. Targeted messages would be conveyed by direct contacts and media outreach., including LTE's and op-ed's as appropriate.

2) Develop and seek a wide range of organizational participants in a sign-on letter to public land agency leaders requesting agency and policy maker commitment and action for stronger and effective ORV enforcement program. LTE's and op'ed's as appropriate to support this activity will take place in each of the states. Targeted groups for sign on would include local governments, law enforcement agencies and branches, retired public land managers, conservation groups, science-based professional wildlife, water quality and fisheries organizations and public lands user groups. Present and distribute copies of sign-on letter to policy makers including state congressional delegations, Chief of the Forest Service, Director of BLM, Secretary of the Interior and Secretary of Agriculture. Seek earned media coverage.

The sign-on letter will highlights these three points to circulate among public land users such as hunters, anglers, hikers, etc:

A. Visible license/ID

B. Consistent fines and enforcement across all federally managed lands

C. Escalating fines for repeat off-road vehicle violations.

Interested candidates should be comfortable with public speaking, working with media outlets and meeting with administration and congressional staff.

Duration of Contract: 6 months

Rate of Pay: $23/Hour
