Northern Illinois University anticipates an opening for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in Conservation Biology/Restoration Ecology
(http://www.niu.edu/conservationbiology-search). Candidates are sought with
expertise in conservation biology, restoration ecology, or a related
discipline to be appointed jointly to the Department of Biological Sciences
(http://www.bios.niu.edu/) and the Institute for the Study of the
Environment, Sustainability, and Energy (ESE) (http://www.niu.edu/ese/).
Applicants will be considered in all aspects of conservation biology or
restoration ecology that enhance and complement existing interdisciplinary
strengths and external collaborations. Successful candidates will teach an
undergraduate/ graduate course in biological sciences in their area of
expertise and the biological systems course in the ESE environmental studies
curriculum. Candidates are expected to have appropriate postdoctoral
experience, a strong publication record in their area of expertise, and to
demonstrate the potential to establish a robust, externally funded research
program. We seek candidates who will effectively train M.S. and Ph.D.
students, provide research opportunities for undergraduates, and commit to
excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A
competitive salary, startup package and research laboratory will be
