Tenure-track position for a professor of
Environmental Toxicology
UQAM is seeking highly-qualified candidates to renew its academic body and
ensure excellence in
development of all areas of activity.
Located in the heart of Montreal, the rapidly-growing Science Faculty is
comprised of 12 research
centres and chairs as well as 3500 students. The Department of Biological
Sciences wishes to
enhance its activities in Environmental toxicology by offering a new
tenure-track position in this
discipline. We seek a candidate whose expertise is consistent with the
interests of our Inter-
institutional Research Centre in Environmental Toxicology (TOXEN). This
research centre investigates
the mechanisms of action of chemical contaminants at the molecular, biochemical
and physiological
levels of interaction with a view to developing novel biomarkers. We prefer
applicants conducting
research using molecular approaches and toxicogenomics.
Duties and functions:
Teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
Conducting research in environmental toxicology
Activities within and outside the academic community
Qualifications:
PhD degree in biological sciences, or a related field, with specialization
in
environmental toxicology
Post-doctoral training with recognized expertise in the proposed discipline
Capacity upon being hired to launch a new, or continue an existing,
autonomous high-quality research program
Solid record of scientific publications
Capacity to teach undergraduate courses in toxicology and
environmental
health in addition to training graduate students in both
masters and doctoral programs
in biology
Potential to integrate into the department and work directly with the
professorial
team in both research and teaching
Proficiency of oral and written French, or the potential to acquire
a working knowledge
of the French language
Starting date: June 1, 2012
Salary and hiring conditions:
Commensurate with the SPUQ-UQÀM collective agreement.
