To all people traveling to Galapagos in 2012, you most likely have all of your prices in place and if you are leading a group, even worse....going back to them for another 100.00 for the experience is not so simple for many! For the Ecuadorian Gov't, I did comment a few days ago that they can spring things on you late in the game. This is one of the worst cases I have seen in the last 15 years. You just think they could have made this decision some time ago. We were warned that it was coming a long time ago, but with no concrete numbers. Here is a message from a collegue in Quito. If you happen to be ticketed for 2012 and most are not, those costs will most likely be honored? Thank you, Mike Nolan....see below We would like to inform you that the Government of Ecuador has announced the decision to eliminate the current aircraft fuel subsidy, effective as of January 1st, 2012. Due to this policy, Galapagos flights will be subject to a fuel surcharge per decisions of local airlines. Our Galapagos flight provider, AEROGAL, will be issuing a mandatory $50 fuel surcharge per way on all flights to and from Galapagos as of January 1st, 2012. This drastic change forces us to charge the $100 round-trip fuel surcharge fee to all existing bookings for 2012. Our dedicated Account Managers are working on reviewing all current sales and will be communicating with you about your new invoices. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please don't hesitate to contact your Account Manager. As a reminder, tickets will be subject to penalties for change of name, route and flight date and that all refunds will be subject to administrative charges. Please keep these notes in mind heading into 2012. ---------- If we are on another line or away from the phone, please leave your number, best time to return your call and/or your e-mail address. After hours and weekend phone appointments are available upon request. Sincerely, J.
