Coral Reef Research Opportunity - Kenya
The oceanic society is offering a research trip to coastal Kenya with Dr. Jennifer O'Leary to help the Kenya Wildlife Service advance their use of monitoring data in marine park management. We will be developing survey protocols with KWS rangers and conducting snorkel surveys with rangers at the Kisite Marine Park and Reserve in southern Kenya (on the boarder of Tanzania). This is the most beautiful reef site in Kenya and is in a small town with no security risks. Accomodations include 2 nights at a resort hotel and then in cabins adjacent to the marine park during surveying. Volunteers must pay their way, but this is a phenomenal opportunity to become involved with on the ground conservation and marine science.
