Dear Dr. Ecolog, My name is Kyung-Ah Koo. I am working at the University of Georgia as a postdoc .I have studied tree distributions and climate change since 1997. I received PhD from the Odum School of Ecology, University of Georgia, by studying "Red spruce distribution and global warming in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park". For understanding tree distributions and predicting climate change effects on the distributions, I have studied species distribution modeling and applied it to my research. The 55th Symposium of the international Association for Vegetation Science ( www.iavs2012.org) will be held in South Korea this summer. The theme of this conference is "Climate Change and Vegetation Science." I think species distribution models have played a very important role for understanding plant distributions under climate change. So, I would like to suggest the special session, Species Distribution Models: Understanding Plant Distributions under Climate Change, to this conference. For this, I would like to ask you if you can participate this session as a speaker. Also, if you know other scientists who study this subject and proper for this session, please let me know. This subject has not well developed in South Korea; therefore, this session will contribute to the growth of this field in South Korea. Thank you so much.
Sincerely, Kyung-Ah Koo. Kyung-Ah Koo PhD. 220 Marine Sciences Bldg University of Georgia Athen, GA 30602 USA. Tel: 1-706-542-2915 Fax: 1-706-542-3652 E-mail: [email protected], [email protected].
