TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION, NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY.

New Jersey Institute of Technology has launched a major faculty hiring
initiative to support the
university’s mission-critical strategic research and technological innovation
areas. These new
positions are targeted to not only leverage and complement existing faculty
strengths, but more
importantly, to lead NJIT into new frontiers of research and discovery. In the
first phase of this
initiative, the Department of Biological Sciences seeks outstanding candidates
to apply for a
tenure/tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor faculty position in
Organismal Sensing and
Tracking starting in August, 2012. Consideration will be given to higher rank
applicants with
appropriate levels of academic excellence and demonstrated research
accomplishment.

With more species becoming endangered every year, it is crucial for the
maintenance and health of
the earth’s ecosystem that innovative methods be discovered to accurately
detect and track species
populations. This position will involve research on techniques for monitoring
and tracking mobile
organisms using, for example, remote sensing technology (e.g. RFID, harmonic
radar, machine
vision, etc.) with the goal of understanding movement behavior and ecology.

Successful candidates should have an earned Ph.D. degree Biology or a
closely-related field and
possess a strong enthusiasm and ability to teach broadly. Candidates are
expected to sustain a
significant externally funded research program in their areas of
specialization. Outstanding
candidates will possess strong research interests with proven research
experience and scholarly
accomplishment. They will be eager to collaborate with colleagues from related
disciplines and be
comfortable working within a community that has a history of innovation.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
