TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION, NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY. New Jersey Institute of Technology has launched a major faculty hiring initiative to support the universitys mission-critical strategic research and technological innovation areas. These new positions are targeted to not only leverage and complement existing faculty strengths, but more importantly, to lead NJIT into new frontiers of research and discovery. In the first phase of this initiative, the Department of Biological Sciences seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure/tenure-track assistant/associate/full professor faculty position in Organismal Sensing and Tracking starting in August, 2012. Consideration will be given to higher rank applicants with appropriate levels of academic excellence and demonstrated research accomplishment.
With more species becoming endangered every year, it is crucial for the maintenance and health of the earths ecosystem that innovative methods be discovered to accurately detect and track species populations. This position will involve research on techniques for monitoring and tracking mobile organisms using, for example, remote sensing technology (e.g. RFID, harmonic radar, machine vision, etc.) with the goal of understanding movement behavior and ecology. Successful candidates should have an earned Ph.D. degree Biology or a closely-related field and possess a strong enthusiasm and ability to teach broadly. Candidates are expected to sustain a significant externally funded research program in their areas of specialization. Outstanding candidates will possess strong research interests with proven research experience and scholarly accomplishment. They will be eager to collaborate with colleagues from related disciplines and be comfortable working within a community that has a history of innovation. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
