Visiting Assistant Professor, Botany, SUNY Plattsburgh The Department of Biological Science at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh is searching for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in Botany to begin August 2012. The Department of Biological Sciences is committed to an educational model in which undergraduate students are provided the opportunity to conduct mentored research with actively engaged teacher-scholars.
Qualifications/Requirements: Ph.D. in appropriate field; a knowledge of the flora of eastern North America and a willingness to work closely with our student chapter of the Botanical Society of America, as well as students enrolled in our Botany Minor. Outstanding ABD candidates may be considered at a lesser rank. Teaching responsibilities will include upper level courses in field botany and plant systematics. Job responsibilities include management of the PLAT herbarium (ca. 8,000 specimens) and our small greenhouse collection, both scheduled to move into newly-built facilities in 2013.
