The Biology Department at Bowdoin College seeks a plant physiologist or plant 
physiological ecologist for a three-year visiting assistant professorship (with 
the possibility of a fourth year). The successful candidate will teach three 
courses each year, including a course on plant physiology focused upon function 
at the organ, tissue and whole-organism scales with weekly laboratory/field 
sessions (and accompanying laboratory instructor support). Additional courses 
taught may include introductory biology, seminars, and courses designed for 
non-science majors. The successful candidate will be expected to mentor 
students conducting cutting-edge research. Ph.D. preferred; advanced ABDs 
considered. A controlled-environment growth chamber, greenhouse, and diverse 
natural settings in which to situate field-based projects are accessible, 
including the Coastal Studies Center (located twenty minutes from the main 
campus), a 118 acre property composed of fields and diverse woodlands 
surrounded by more than two miles of intertidal shoreline.
