Dear EcoLoggers: I am conducting a series of mark-recapture surveys of an amphibian community and am looking into the best options for tagging devices. My surveys will include both urodeles (e.g. alpine newt, fire salamander) an anuran speces. I am looking for the smallest PIT tag style markers available as many individuals will be quite small.
The Nonatec glass microchips were recommended to me (http://nonatec.net/). Apparently they are the lightest PIT tags on the market. Does anyone have any experience using these chips? Have they worked well? Other brands that anyone would recommend for tagging of small amphibians? -- **************************** *David Daversa* *PhD Student Evolutionary Ecology Group Dept of Zoology, University of Cambridge [email protected] [email protected]*
