Hi Geoff,
Have you heard of Atrium, a searchable plant database developed by BRIT
(Botanical Research Institute of Texas)? This is part of the Andes to Amazon
Research Program based in Los Amigos. Co-director of the program and herbarium
director is Amanda Neill,
Phone: 817.332.4441, ext. 217Fax: .817.332.4112
E-mail: [email protected]

I'll bet she can help point you in the right direction. Here is the link to
Atrium:

And you can read a bit about the AABP program, here:

Best of luck!

Subject: [ECOLOG-L] Ithomiine butterflies/Solanaceae at Los Amigos, Peru

Hi Ecologgers,

I'm currently planning a year-long study of ithomiine (clearwing) butterfly
abundance and niche-
breadth in southern Peru, to begin this September. Los Amigos Biological
Station  (12°34'2.14"S
70° 5'56.15"W) in the southern Peruvian Amazon is one place I'm considering,
but before I commit
to a year there I need to be
reasonably confident that I'll find ithomiines and their food plants
(almost exclusively Solanaceae). Does anyone have experience working at Los
Amigos, who can
also comment on the abundance of these butterflies and importantly also plants
in the Solanaceae?
Know someone who does? Any information will be very helpful!

Cheers,
Geoff
