Dear Colleagues,
The Global Garlic Mustard Field Survey is entering its fourth field season,
now with demographic data and seed collections from over 300 populations
across Europe and North America! This year we are looking for (i) new
collaborators to collect data from poorly-sampled areas (see below), and
(ii) returning collaborators to contribute to a temporal dimension by
resampling populations from previous years.
This project is an international collaboration aimed at obtaining seed
collections and data on the demography, performance, abundance and
distribution of Alliaria petiolata (Garlic Mustard). It involves a very
basic protocol that standardizes sampling across sites, and takes place in
late spring/early summer. As such, it is well-suited for incorporation into
early summer field courses, nature surveys, and long-term monitoring and
management efforts. The estimated duration of sampling for a team of two
people is 3-6 hours per population.
Participation is open to anyone and those who contribute data and seeds will
have the opportunity to participate in manuscripts resulting from the work.
