The USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Research Station (PSW) is 
advertising for
Biological Technician - Wildlife.

Multiple positions are available at a field-based duty station.  Position 
begins in mid-August 2012 and is expected to continue until mid-January 2013.

Primary duties are to conduct searches for fatalities of bats and birds at a 
wind energy facility near Rosamond, California.  Data entry may also be 
assigned.  Applicants must be able to work alone and with others in remote 
terrain. Work will be done in all weather conditions.  A good driving record is 
required in order to obtain a federal driver's license.  Approximately 95% of 
the work will occur in the field.

Specific qualities desired for successful applicants include: 1) ability to 
work in remote terrain, alone and with others, 2) experience with field data 
collection and management; 3) attention to detail and protocol; 4) timeliness 
and sense of responsibility; 5) experience working in hot, cold, wet, and, 
especially windy conditions

Previous experience conducting fatality surveys is desirable but not required.  
Previous experience identifying bat and bird specimens to species is desirable 
but not required.
Incumbents will be trained in all field and office tasks.
