Dear Ecolog,

My colleagues did some work examining the importance of funding on relative
citation
success (http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1600-
0706.2012.20109.x/abstract). I know that citations are, at best, a proxy for
impact, but I
was wondering if folks had a sense of whether the dollar values discussed in
this blog post
are realistic? Here is the link:

http://oikosjournal.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/canada-vs-the-usa-is-there-an-
optimal-funding-level-for-ecologists/

The values primarily apply to North Americans, and it might be nice to get a
sense of
whether they apply more broadly. Disclaimer, this is purely for exploration of
the topic as I
know that we need way better data than listed there. Please feel free to post a
comment on
that blog post or email me directly at [email protected]

Thanks.
cheers
chris.
