Dear Colleagues, We would like to invite submissions to the session "Dynamics of Forest Recovery Under a Changing Climate" at the AGU Fall Meeting (3-7 December 2012; <http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2012/>). The deadline for abstract submission is August 8, 2012.
Description: Forests recovering from disturbance are strong carbon sinks and play an important role in Earth's climate system. Climate change is likely to alter forest recovery dynamics or even prevent recovery, and changes in disturbance-recovery dynamics will impact both biogeochemical and biophysical interactions with the climate system. This session will focus on improving understanding of the role of secondary forests in the changing climate system. In particular, it will address both the mechanisms through which altered atmospheric CO2 and climate are likely to impact recovery patterns, including physiological responses, successional dynamics, and biogeochemical cycling, and the expected biogeochemical and biophysical climate feedbacks.
